Piston Ring - Cylinder Test Module
The piston ring-cylinder liner test module was designed to be able to work with the main platform of UTS TRIBOLOG.
It was specifically designed to characterize the tribological behavior between piston rings and cylinder interface in internal combustion engines.
The module can perform tests in both oily and oil-free environments.
In addition, the module was designed to heat both dry and oily environments up to 150 °C with a precision heating system.
A design has been made with the cylinder on the table and the segment on the upper arm.
A special ring catch is attached to the upper elastic arm to be able to simulate the actual conditions.
It is also possible to perform tribological characterization of the lubricants used with this module.
Test Method
During the tests, the cylinder liner sample is generally placed on the bottom plate.
A special holder is available for this purpose. The ring sample is placed on a special holder head.
It is important to ensure that the vertical load condition is exactly between the segment and cylinder liner before the test.
After this is achieved, tests are initiated under the required vertical loading.
If the lubricant fluid or medium is to be heated, the system must be heated up to the set temperature before testing.
