Lubricant / Liquid Test Module
With UTS TRIBOLOG, a specially developed lubrication/lubricant/liquid test module can be worked.
It is well known that for many industrial applications, friction and wear behavior of materials or systems working in liquid or oily environments and their characterization are extremely important.
For example, lubrication of the engine parts against abrasion and sudden temperature increases is extremely important.
This module can work with both rotational and reciprocating main modules.
These modules can also be used for different liquid environments.
An optional oil/liquid heating system can also be provided.
The oily media and lubrication module can be offered in two different options. The first option is a static oily media application.
In this option, the test samples are immersed in the liquid or oil.
A drop-in lubrication option is also available as the second option.
With this option, a flow rate regulated oil can be sent to the sample container as dropping.
-
The system allows the testing to be carried out in oily environments in both rotational and linearly reciprocating motion types at room temperature.
-
In the rotational movement type, experiments can be made in both oil pool and droplet feeding.
-
In the case of drop lubrication, the oil flow can be controlled with a precision valve while oil is being fed from the oil tank to the test medium.
-
In the case of linear reciprocating motion, friction-wear tests can only be carried out in the lubrication pool. However, droplet lubrication is also available upon request.
Test Method
The lubrication test module is designed to work with both rotational and linearly reciprocating motion modes.
There are two basic types of lubrication modules.
In pool-type lubrication or liquid media tests, the sample is connected to the rotary and/or linear motion disc in the container.
The level or amount of lubricant to be introduced into the container is determined by the test conditions. During the test, the sample is continuously contained in the same lubricant or liquid.
After the test is finished, the liquid is discharged from the special discharge channel and the sample is removed for further inspections.
A drop-in lubrication system has a flow-regulated fluid or lubricant tank. The test is started after the desired flow rate is adjusted.
In both lubrication systems, the current friction measurement and wear depth measurement methods are operative as in pin-on disc and reciprocating modules.
Test Samples
There is no special sample geometry and type. The samples and abrasives suited for the rotary and reciprocating modules can also be used with this test module.
