Abstract: In this study, effect of age hardening on the wear behaviour of the Al-7Si-4Zn-3Cu alloy. This alloy was produced by permanent mould casting and then solution treated a temperature of 450 C, quenced anda ged at 150 C for 0.5 and 5 hours. Dry sliding wear properties of the alloys were investigated after determining their microstructure and mechanical properties. These treatments increased the hardness and tensile strength of the alloy as compared to as-cast condition. In addition, age hardening treatment resulted in an increase its wear resistance at relatively high loads and sliding speeds. The worn surfaces of the alloys were characterized by smearing and delamination.
